The History of Humanitarian Organizations’ Programmes on Behalf of Civilian Populations in the Aftermath of the First World War (1918-1930)A History of International Humanitarian Associations from 1850 to 1950 is a Fonds National de la Recherche Scientifique Suisse funded research project, intended to deal with a lacuna in modern history. The project will examine five international humanitarian associations – the ancestors of today’s NGOs: the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) ; the League of Red Cross Societies ; Save the Children Fund ; l’Union Internationale de Secours aux Enfants ; the Fédération Internationale des Ligues des Droits de l’Homme. STates, Minorities and Conflicts in the Middle EastStates, Minorities and Conflicts in the Middle East: A Comparative Study of the Durability of States and Regimes and Dissident Movements in Egypt, Iraq, and Turkey, 1948-2003 is a Swiss National Science Foundation funded research project being conducted at the Institute. Looking at the "minority factor" as a key element in the interaction between states, regimes and dissident movements in Egypt, Iraq and Turkey throughout the second half of the 20th century, the project aims to offer fresh analysis of the contemporary history of the Middle East . It will draw on a wide range of archives as well as interviews of both current and former activists and state officials. |
