Training
CAS and Executive Education have launched the new
Executive Master in Asian Affairs
, which will start in November 2012. This Executive Master is led by the Graduate Institute (ERASE Executive Education and Centre for Asian Studies), in collaboration with the EPFL Centre for Area and Cultural Studies and the University of Geneva.
Its four modules and optional summer schools in Asia, give professionals an opportunity to deepen their understanding of current challenges and dynamics involving Asian emerging countries (China, India, Southeast Asia). The programme aims at providing the cultural, political and economic background of these Asian countries, as well as a precise knowledge of specific issues related to science, technology, medicine and the environment. It is designed to provide intensive exchanges with experts in the field and to sharpen participants’ cross-cultural communication and negotiation skills.
International Executive Master in Development Studies (IMAS)
Since 2002, CAS members, in particular Dr. Alexandre Dormeier Freire (IMAS Asia Academic Coordinator), Dr. Christophe Gironde and Prof. Jean-Luc Maurer, have been involved in the design and teaching of seminars in the IMAS-Asia.
Organized for the first time in 2002, the IMAS is intended to strengthen the decision-making capacity of development professionals working in the public and private sectors. The programme offers the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge to their professional experience, while at the same time developing analytical skills and attitudes. The IMAS focuses on the analysis of specific development issues and the links between local and global challenges. In Asia, it focuses on the Greater Mekong Region. For its Asian part, in collaboration with the AIT, this Executive Master is partly decentralized in Hanoi. More information.
Executive courses
CAS organises projects of executive education on specific themes related to international relations and development in Asia.
In particular, jointly with the AIT and the Graduate Institute Executive Education Department, CAS organizes an executive course on 'Theory and Practice of International and Regional Negotiation'. This course aims at improving negotiation experiences, testing skills as a negotiator, receiving intense individual feedback and coaching for building up negotiations skills. It has been specially designed for executives working at the Asian Development Bank in Asia. The first edition took place in Hanoi in November 2010.
