| Biography: |
Achim Wennmann holds a Doctorate in International Relations of the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies. Previously, he obtained a Diplôme d’Études Supérieures (DES) at the Graduate Institute, and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations with Development Studies at the University of Sussex in the United Kingdom. Prior to the CCDP, Dr. Wennmann coordinated training courses for young government officials in the South Caucasus, and worked on peace policy and the decentralisation of governance in Georgia at the Graduate Institute. He also worked with the Small Arms Survey in support of the Geneva Declaration for Armed Violence and Development. Currently, he is also Executive Coordinator of the Geneva Peacebuilding Platform.
At the CCDP, Dr. Wennmann conducts research on the economic dimensions of peace mediation, hybrid political orders, the political economy of conflict and armed groups, and the financing of terrorism. He authored The Political Economy of Peacemaking (Routledge, 2011); and co-edited (with Mats Berdal) Ending Wars, Consolidating Peace: Economic Perspectives.
