Regional Training Programmes

The Centre has a unique expertise in training government officials at the regional level.

The experience started in 1997 with the Capacity Building in International Relations Programme for the South Caucasus which now every year trains civil servants from Armenia and Georgia and Azerbaijan on issues of international governance and regional integration. Similar programmes were launched in 2008 for the Maghreb region and in 2009 for the Great Lakes region in Africa.

All programmes have the objective of improving both national capacities as well as regional cooperation. Especially transborder issues which have to be dealt with at the regional level require effective working relationships between neighboring countries.

Trainings are conceived in the spirit of a sustainable, long-term process in which the Centre cooperates with governments in their human resources development and ensures the pursuit of a self-reinforcing training strategy.
