CABIR

Capacity Building in International Relations

CABIR is a training project sponsored by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and implemented by the CIG in cooperation with local partners in Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia. (Website: www.cabir.org)

It was preceded by a series of diplomatic training courses organized in the framework of the Swiss International Relations University Seminar (SIRUS).

Since 2001, the project has been extended: Apart from participation in training courses, CABIR today offers a well-established and active Alumni network, a "Swiss Leadership Award" for outstanding Alumni as well as a Train-the-Trainers intiative for Alumni with an interest in teaching.

Objectives

  • To train young government officials in the subjects of Human Rights, Humanitarian Law, International Economics and Negotiation Techniques;
  • To strengthen governance for effective representation at the international level;
  • To increase  accountability and transparency in the management of public affairs;
  • To improve access to information;
  • To support the capacity building of local non-governmental actors.
