Centres and Programmes

The task of the Institute’s Centres and Programmes is to contribute to the analysis of current global issues drawing on the intellectual resources of International Geneva, and to disseminate the results of the research in a format useful to international actors through, among others, executive education, publications and roundtables.

Centre on Conflict, Development and Peacebuilding

The Centre conducts academic research on the general phenomenon of armed violence ("conflict"), on efforts to foster conditions that prevent the outbreak or recurrence of such violence ("development"), as well as on comprehensive and/or targeted strategies to promote peaceful relations at the communal, national and international levels ("peacebuilding").

Centre for Trade and Economic Integration

CTEI is the Graduate Institute's centre of excellence for research on international trade. The Centre brings together the research activities of eminent professors of economics, law and political science in the areas of trade, economic integration and globalisation.

Centre for Asian Studies

Founded in 1971, the Centre is dedicated to the study of Asia in the contemporary world. Drawing on the social sciences, the centre aims to foster a better understanding of the socio-economic and political development of Asian countries.

Programme for the Study of Global Migration

This programme is devoted to the interdisciplinary study of population movements and aims at producing cutting-edge research and expertise on the causes and impacts of migration. Its primary focus is on movements linked to armed conflict, generalised violence, persecution and ecological disasters.

Global Health Programme

This programme focuses on the interface between foreign policy, economics, development and health. It examines the characteristics and mechanisms that define successful global health diplomacy and governance.

The «Pôle genre et développement»

The «pôle de compétence genre et développement» offers training, research, debate and theorization resources in order to facilitate the integration of gender perspectives in development programmes and policies, with a particular emphasis on the Francophone world.
