Pierre du Bois Scholarships

The Pierre du Bois doctoral scholarships have been established to encourage and support PhD theses in the field of current history.

For each academic year two scholarships will be offered to students from Latin America studying for a PhD in the Institute’s International History and Politics programme.

The successful scholarship holders will be exempt from tuition fees and will each receive CHF 20,000 to cover living expenses. Scholarships can be renewed for an additional year, provided the subjects of the theses correspond with the objectives of the Pierre du Bois Foundation and depending on first-year results.

Professor Pierre du Bois passed away suddenly in June 2007 after having taught for 15 years at the Graduate Institute of International Studies. A specialist of European integration and contemporary international relations, he is remembered as an extremely likeable person and a unanimously appreciated faculty member.

The scholarships are awarded within the framework of the Pierre du Bois Foundation, which aims at encouraging and sustaining research on European as well as global current history.

Deadline for applications: 15 January
