IT at a glance

IT account

This is the key to access most of the IT facilities. Information concerning this account is delivered to authorised persons in an envelope marked "confidential".

New students

It is given to each student by the Student Office at registration time, about 3 weeks before the opening of the academic year.

Staff members

It is delivered to each new staff member by the Human Resources Department on the first day of employment.

Visiting Professors

It is available at the Administrative Office of the Academic Units at the beginning of the academic year.

Guests

Guests who are present for a short period of time (maximum 1 week) can obtain a guest account by having their host send an email to the IT Department Helpdesk.

Guests who intend to stay more than a week can obtain a personal account provided their host fillsl in the IT account request form available on the Intranet (allow one week deadline).

Wifi network

It is possible to access IT facilities with a private laptop if it is equipped with a wifi adapter. The wifi network is located in the Library and in Pavillon Rigot.

3 access levels are available:

Authenticated

It gives unlimited access to IT facilities to authorised users who have an IT account.

Guest

It is necessary to obtain a wifi guest account by having the host send an email to the IT Department Helpdesk. It provides unlimited access to Internet. This network is not encrypted.

Anonymous

Open to all. It gives Internet access to some academic resources of the Institute and the University of Geneva.
