Executive Course on Global Health Diplomacy 2008

Some 26 participants from 21 countries successfully completed the Executive Education course on Global Health Diplomacy. The programme built on the vast experiences of the participants who were diplomats, health experts and representatives of international and non-governmental organisations.

Renowned experts and diplomats provided not only a theoretical introduction to the topic but deliberations also extended to vivid discussions on Intellectual Property Rights, The Framework Convention on Tobacco Control, International Health Regulations, the creation of new finance mechanisms such as the Global Fund for Aids, Tuberculosis and Malaria, and different approaches to policy coherence between national and international levels. The programme also used practical case studies and role play on Avian Flu and the harmful use of alcohol to further deepen understanding of global health diplomacy.
