Loan conditions

Users

  • Students, Graduate Institute faculty, employees and alumni (free card)
  • Holders of library cards from RERO (Library Network of Western Switzerland) or Bibliopass Network 
  • Geneva residents [Registration form (rtf, Fr.)] (10 CHF + a copy of an identification document will be asked) 

Loan Conditions

Maximum Number of Documents

  • 15 documents (all BUPA libraries considered)
  • 30 documents (for Graduate Institute faculty and PhD students)

Loan periods

  • standard loan: 28 days (renewable twice)
  • short loan: 7 days (DVDs, videotapes and CD-ROMs. 5 documents maximum at a time, renewable twice)
  • very short loan:  4 pm - 10 am, the following day and Friday 4 pm - Monday 10 am (journals, reference material and books reserved for seminars; cannot be renewed)
  • Semester loan: 6 months (for Graduate Institute faculty and PhD students; cannot be renewed)

Loan Renewal

  • Only standard and short loans are renewable via the patron folder of the Geneva Library Network, by e-mail Library (at) graduateinstitute.ch or via the loan service (screencast [video]).

Reservation Requests

  • Only borrowed standard and short loan documents may be reserved via the Geneva Library Network or via the loan service.

Internal Loan

  • Unlimited number of standard loan documents stored in a carrel for 28 days (renewable at the circulation desk).

Late Fees

  • 0,50 CHF fine per document and per day according to library loan regulations [pdf, Fr.]
  • books reserved for seminars (red dots): 2 CHF per document and per day
  • recall procedure: 1 recall e-mail sent the day before the document's return date, two recall letters followed by a summons letter leading to loan exclusion
