What is your career path?
I started work at McKinsey shortly after completing my DEA in International Economics. I have been with the firm for slightly over two years.
Why did you study at the Institute?
Several reasons come to mind. Most importantly, because I thought the Institute had truly one of the best graduate programmes in economics in Europe. I also really liked the multi-disciplinary approach of the programmes, the opportunity to explore the links between economics, politics and law at the international level. Last, but not least, Geneva was the perfect location for an avid skier like me.
Your most significant memory from the Institute?
My classmates from the graduate programmes. It was a privilege to learn alongside such a group of smart, dedicated and fun people.
Why did you choose consulting?
Consulting offers the rare opportunity to develop knowledge and ideas and find ways to successfully implement them. It is a highly dynamic job where you never become bored or complacent. It also pushes you to take initiatives and be creative when addressing the wide range of business issues that are at the focus of our work.
Did the Institute prepare you well?
Even though I have not had a chance to directly put my knowledge of economics to use, I think the Institute prepared me quite well for a career in consulting. It helped me develop a structured and rigorous way of thinking, which is an invaluable asset when it comes to problem-solving. My experience at the Institute, on the other hand, gave me an opportunity to develop excellent communication and relationship skills.
