2011

  • Dr. Philippe Gazagne à travers « Dit vouloir mourir en Suisse », premier court-métrage documentaire du Programme (Cinédoc Productions, Annecy, 2011), a visé à amorcer au sein du PGSM une réflexion à long terme sur les liens entre l’image et les sciences sociales.   • Professor Monsutti was Visiting Professor at the University of Vienna, Departement of Social and Cultural Anthropology from 15 to 30 January 2012. He gave a course on "Insurgents, Refugees and Humanitarian Activists: A Political Anthropology of the Afghan Crisis" and a conference on "Afghans Without Borders: Mobility and the International World of Nations" (18 janvier 2012).
  • Professor Monsutti gave a lecture on “The Politics of Reconstruction in Afghanistan: Rural Development, Local Participation and the Workshop Culture” at Austrian Academy of Sciences on 24 of January 2012. More info

  • The GFMD Civil Society Days took place in Geneva from 29-30 November 2011. Dr. Jérôme Elie acted as co-rapporteur for and rapporteur for the working session on "Rights-based Policy-making for the Benefit of Migrant Workers and Families" (Theme 1) and rapporteur for the session on "The Road towards 2013 and the Future of the Forum".   • Dr. Jérôme Elie has been appointed as member of the GFMD Civil Society Core Group for the organization of the 2011 GFMD Civil Society Days to be held in Geneva on 29-30 November 2011
  • On 12-14 July 2011, the Global Detention Project participated in a regional detention workshop in Johannesburg, South Africa, that was hosted by the International Detention Coalition and Lawyers for Human Rights. Attending the workshop were immigration and refugee advocates from several countries in the region. The Global Detention Project gave a presentation on methods for developing systematic data on immigration detention regimes.
