Adrita Mitra completed her Master in International History at IHEID in 2020. Her thesis examined the role of the missionary, Alice Seeley Harris, and her famous atrocity photographs from the Congo Free State on the formulation of an early theory of human rights. Adrita is interested in studying how images inform historical consciousness and shape notions of identity. She holds a Bachelors in History from Miranda House, University of Delhi where she led heritage walks around the city. She has recently joined the SNF-Funded Project "Images, (In)visibilities, and Work on Appearances" under the supervision of Prof. Patricia Spyer.
