Breakout 3 – Implementation: In a world disrupted by AI, what type of "enabling ecosystems" can and should be put in place?

The TASC Platform is convening the “Implementation” Breakout Session, bringing together a multi-stakeholder group, including policymakers, academia, business leaders, and non-profit organizations,  to discuss how to work together towards the transformation of businesses and industries. It will address enablers at the levels of policy, business, the workforce, education systems, and the underlying standards that help us organize interventions.

Dr Michael Fung
Dr. Michael Fung is the Deputy Chief Executive (Industry), Chief Human Resource Officer and Chief Data Officer at SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG), a statutory agency under the Ministry of Education. He oversees the development of the continuing education and training system in Singapore, through managing funding and contractual partnerships with private training providers, institutes of higher learning, and enterprises. He is an adjunct Senior Fellow at the Singapore University of Technology and Design, and Founding President of the Higher Education Planning in Asia Association.

Rafaelita “Fita” M. Aldaba
Undersecretary for Competitiveness and Innovation of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

Dr. Aldaba fulfills a key role in the formulation and implementation of the Inclusive Innovation Industrial Strategy (i 3S), which puts innovation at the heart of the country’s new industrial policy.
She is leading DTI’s initiatives in preparing industries for the Fourth Industrial Revolution and digital transformation, establishing Regional Inclusive Innovation Centers (RIICs), and growing a robust startup ecosystem in the country. Undersecretary Aldaba is also a member of the Board of Governors of the Philippine Board of Investments (BOI).
A researcher turned policymaker, Dr. Aldaba was Senior Research Fellow and Acting Vice-President of the Philippine Institute for Development Studies. She has extensive research experience, authored various publications on development issues, and conceptualized and managed research projects with various international organizations, including The World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the Japan International Cooperation Agency, and the United States Agency for International Development.

Richard Baldwin 
Professor of International economics at the Graduate Institute

Richard Baldwin is Professor of International Economics at the Graduate Institute, Geneva, Co-Director of the CTEI, and founder and Editor-in-Chief of VoxEU.org. He advises governments and international organisations around the world, and is a prolific author. His latest book is The Globotics Upheaval: Globalization, Robotics, and the Future of Work(2019 Oxford University Press). Previously, he was President of the Centre of Economic Policy Research (2014 to 2018), and worked in the Bush White House (1990 to 1991).

Genna Barnett 
Programme Manager, Open Jobs Data | Data Analytics Directorate, Nesta

Genna is the Programme Manager for the Data Analytics Practice at Nesta - the UK's innovation foundation. She works across a number of projects relating to open jobs data, providing project management support and strategic oversight. She is particularly interested in engaging with policy makers and other stakeholders to understand how diverse groups can make use of our outputs in practice.
Most recently, she has worked on Mapping Career Causeways - an ambitious project using state-of-the-art data science methods to create an algorithm that recommends job transitions and retraining to workers, with a focus on supporting those at high risk of automation. Prior to this, Genna worked on a range of projects at Nesta exploring the future of work and impact of technology on jobs, including Digital Frontrunners and FutureFit.

Sreyoshi Bhaduri 
Global People Research and Analytics, McGraw-Hill

Dr. Sreyoshi Bhaduri is an Engineering Educator and People Researcher. She currently leads Global People Research and Analytics at McGraw Hill, where her research leverages employee data from across 40 countries to generate data-driven insights for decisions impacting organizational growth, culture and talent. Her research interests include employing innovative, ethical and inclusive mixed-methods research approaches using AI to uncover insights about the 21st century workforce. Sreyoshi is passionate about improving belonging among women in STEM and Engineering, and was recently elected as Senator at the Society of Women Engineers - a not-for-profit organization with over 42,000 global members and the world’s largest advocate and catalyst for change for women in engineering and technology. Alexa Joyce
Digital Transformation & Skills Director, Europe, Middle East and Africa, Microsoft Corporation

Alexa works across the region to drive digital transformation of education institutions and digital skills development, from primary through to higher education. She focuses on enabling them to develop the skills that students need to succeed in work and life.
Over the last 20 years, Alexa has worked with governments in more than 100 countries across the world in digital transformation. She previously led the global strategy at Microsoft for engaging and support education system leaders as they evolve their school systems, and was formerly EMEA Director of Policy, Teaching and Learning, focusing on supporting national device deployments across the region.
Prior to Microsoft, she worked with leading international education organizations: European Schoolnet (the network of 34 Ministries of Education in Europe), UNESCO and OECD. She’s on the advisory board of ALL Digital, a European network for digital inclusion, University College London’s EDUCATE incubator for ed-tech startups and the Institute for Ethical AI in Education.
