Phil Saengkrai is a PhD Candidate in International Law at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in the fast-track programme. He received his LLB from University of Tokyo, LLB (Hons) from Thammasat University, and MSc from the London School of Economics and Political Science. In 2016, he was awarded the diploma in human rights law by the Academy of European Law, European University Institute.
Prior to coming to the Graduate Institute, Phil was a lecturer at Faculty of Law, Thammasat University in Thailand, where he taught several courses including public international law, human rights law, constitutional rights, etc. In that capacity, he also provided a training course on the law of treaties for government officials, and conducted policy research for the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security with regard to treaty accession and implementation. He worked recently as an assistant at the International Law Commission. He has served in the editorial board of Thammasat Law Journal, and currently serves in the editorial board of Thailand Journal of International Law and the Thai Arbitration Institute Law Journal.
