PROFILE
Radu is currently a 4th year PhD student in Development Economics at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva under the supervision of professors Viarengo and Swanson. Since 2018 Radu has been working as a Research Assistant at the Centre for International Environmental Studies. He holds a bachelor's degree in Economics and Management and a Master in Business Administration from the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest. He also holds a Master in International Economics from the Graduate Institute in Geneva.
Radu is trained as a development economist with a focus on structural change, labour markets, and inequality. In his research, Radu combines the development approach with innovation economics to explore the effects that changes in the local structure of economic activity have on labour market outcomes. Specifically, his research focuses on the role of the regional structure of the economy on labour market outcomes, such as gender gaps dynamics, career trajectories, specialisation, and individual learning.
In the past, Radu worked on active labour market policies, employment services, knowledge, education and aid policies, training and vocational education, inequalities in human capital formation and labour market dynamics at NORRAG and the International Labour Organization in Geneva. His work experience also includes over 10 years of consulting, communication, and project management in the private sector for corporations such as Nestlé, Samsung, Wolters Kluwer, Unilever, or Condé Nast. With a specialisation in corporate social responsibility communication, he worked closely with research institutes to assess the impacts of technology on individual and social outcomes.
