The Geneva Trade and Development Workshop (GTDW) is a joint seminar series of the Geneva School of Economics and Management (GSEM), the Graduate Institute in Geneva (IHEID), the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the World Trade Organization (WTO). After twelve years of running as an on-site seminar, we are joining forces with the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) to bring the GTDW online to share frontier research in trade and development.

As part of the Geneva Trade and Development Workshop (GTDW) seminar series, the Graduate Institute in Geneva (IHEID) and our partners are pleased to invite you to a public talk given by Laura Alfaro, Warren Alpert Professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business School.

She will present her work titled Currency Hedging in Emerging Markets: Managing Cash Flow Exposure, coauthored with Mauricio Calani and Liliana Varela.

 

About the speaker

Laura Alfaro is a Faculty Research Associate in the National Bureau of Economic Research's International Finance and Macroeconomics Program and the International Trade and Investment Program, member of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Economic Advisory Board, the Latin-American Financial Regulatory Committee (CLAAF), Faculty Associate at Harvard's Weatherhead Center for International Affairs, and member of the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies’ (DRCLAS) policy committee, among others. In 2008, she was honored as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum. She served as Minister of National Planning and Economic Policy in Costa Rica from 2010-2012, taking a leave from HBS.
