Joëlle Noailly 'In Conversation With' Climate Experts

'In Conversation With' is a podcast series that features renowned experts and thought-leaders to address pressing global issues with Geneva Graduate Institute faculty members.

CIES Head of Research Joëlle Noailly was recently joined by a panel of experts to address the main outcomes of the Sharm El-Sheikh COP27 climate talks for the Geneva Graduate Institute’s In Conversation With podcast series. The episode “Climate Emergency: What Role for International Geneva?” featured Michel Jarraud, Secretary General Emeritus at the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), Maria Neira, Director of the Department of Environment, Climate Change and Health at the World Health Organization (WHO), and Marek Harsdorff, Economist in the Green Jobs Programme at the International Labour Organization (ILO).

The panelists discussed the new Loss and Damage Fund established at COP27, aimed at providing financial support to vulnerable nations suffering the worst impacts of climate disasters. As the just transition towards a more sustainable global livelihood becomes ever more pressing, this podcast episode highlights the importance of cross-cutting approaches, the important roles of civil society and academia, as well as new challenges and opportunities for organizations within International Geneva.
