Zhubin Chen is an Affiliate Researcher at the Global Health Centre at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies. He is a Doctoral Candidate in Development Economics with a minor in Medical Anthropology at the Institute. He is also an Economist Consultant at WHO, Health Systems Governance and Financing Department.

His current research aims to understand how social health insurance can be utilised as a systemic tool to regulate health care supply in East Africa using a mixed-methods approach drawn from both Health Economics and Medical Anthropology. He is also a member of the FINPHARM project at the Global Health Centre exploring the impact of financialisation on global health through a series of pharmaceutical case studies.

Prior to joining the Global Health Centre, he worked in the development sector at multiple International Organizations, including The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, UNICEF, UNDP, and UN ECLAC. He was also the Co-Director of the Collaborate for Social Impact Program in 2018, an experiential education program designed to offer innovative solutions to challenges proposed by NGOs and IOs in Geneva. He received a Master in Development Studies from the Graduate Institute and a Master of Law in International Relations from Tsinghua University.
