Description

Following more than three years of intensive negotiations within the Intergovernmental Negotiating Body (INB), the successful adoption of the drafting of the WHO Pandemic Agreement marks a historic achievement in global health governance and multilateral diplomacy. This legally binding international agreement on pandemic prevention, preparedness, and response reflects a collective global effort to strengthen international cooperation and resilience against the risk of future pandemics.

This public event is designed to serve as a moment of reflection and forward-looking dialogue. It offers a platform to critically examine the content of the Pandemic Agreement, draw lessons from the negotiation process and hear insights from those who played key roles in shaping this historic outcome.

Looking forward, the event will also explore the next phases—focusing on what lies ahead as the global community turns to the vital task of putting the Agreement into action through effective implementation and further negotiation of the annex on the Pathogen Access and Benefit-Sharing (PABS) System.

A reception will follow the event from 14:00-15:00 CEST in the atrium of Petal 2 (ground floor, Geneva Graduate Institute).
