We invite you to join us for the virtual Inspire Students Alumni Roundtable on Tuesday, 23 March at 18:15 - 19:15 Geneva time, with the career focus on finance and trade in the development sector. For this women's month, we are dedicating the roundtable to trade and finance for development and its intersection with gender and bringing two alumna panelists who work specifically in this area.
Panelists
Our alumna panelists are Anne Valko (akin to MIA, 2005) and Elena Mayer-Bersting (MDEV, 2017).
Anne Valko Celestino (akin to MIA, 2005 and 2 short programmes, 2011) is a Gender and Social Development Specialist for the Private Sector Operations Department at the Asian Development Bank (HQ in the Philippines). After a few years working with non-profit organizations, notably in Angola and in Mozambique with the international NGO Development Aid from People to People (ADPP), she has been working in development finance since 2013, when she joined the African Development Bank (with postings at its temporary HQ in Tunisia, at HQ in Cote d’Ivoire and at its Regional Southern Africa Office in South Africa). Anne has built her experience in gender, financial and social inclusion, which involves cross-functional skills from social development to investment finance.
Elena Mayer-Besting (MDEV, 2017) is currently Project Manager for #SheTrades in The Gambia at the International Trade Centre, connecting women entrepreneurs and women farmers to markets and investment. She has been with ITC for almost 5 years, where she started with an internship during her studies and has also been an International Consultant providing expertise on entrepreneurship, gender, and project design, amongst others. Prior to joining ITC, she worked in a range of capacities for several NGOs on issues relating to women, work, and the economy, and contributed to research in this area.
Do you have a question for the panel? Join us live or submit your questions ahead of time to alumni@graduateinstitute.ch.
We hope that you will be able to join us for this exciting event, and keep an eye out for the next Inspire Students alumni roundtables coming every month this semester, under a different thematic or sectoral focus.
Best wishes,
From Alumni Relations, Carine & Zaninka
From Career Services, Aline & Alizé
