From Classroom to Fieldwork – Research Methods in Anthropology and Sociology
Ever wondered how anthropologists and sociologists actually move from theory to practice?
Or what it takes to design and carry out research in the field?
Join us for our next ANSO hangout — a relaxed conversation space where students host faculty, peers, and alumni to share experiences, answer questions, and open up what research and life at the Institute are really like.
This time, we’re thrilled to welcome Graziella Moraes da Silva and Minhua Ling, two faculty members of the ANSO department, who will reflect on their own journeys with research methods.
They’ll talk about bridging classroom learning with fieldwork, the challenges (and surprises) of doing research in anthropology and sociology, and how they guide students to think critically about methodology in practice.
It’s a chance to hear stories from the field, ask the questions you’ve been holding onto, and get inspired by the many ways research takes shape beyond textbooks.
No pressure to be formal. Just bring your curiosity.
Camera and mic optional – your vibe, your call.
