The Definition of a “Situation” at the International Criminal Court: Implications for Practice
The International Law Colloquium is a forum for discussing international law scholarship, featuring diverse topics and approaches. It provides an opportunity for in-depth engagement with ongoing research, with participants expected to read the drafts circulated before each session. Speakers include both faculty from the International Law Department and invited external experts.
About the Speaker
Priya Urs is Junior Research Fellow in Law at St John’s College, Oxford. She holds a PhD in Law from University College London, an LLM from the University of Cambridge, and a BA, LLB from the National Law School of India University. Her research spans public international law, including international criminal law, the law on the use of force, and procedure at international courts. She is the author of Gravity at the International Criminal Court (OUP 2024), and her article on prosecutorial discretion at the ICC won the Journal of International Criminal Justice Prize (2020). Priya has published in leading outlets such as the Journal of International Criminal Justice, the British Yearbook of International Law, and International Law and Comparative Law Quarterly. She serves on the editorial board of the Leiden Journal of International Law and as a contributing editor at CIL Dialogues.
