Connectivity plays a key role in ensuring an equal access to information, education, and job opportunities to young people in the world. Given their dual-use nature, digital technologies can simultaneously contribute to youth empowerment and discrimination. Youth-led social movements benefit from digital tools to coordinate actions and raise awareness. And yet, from echo chamber to cyber-bullying, the digital realm is not without risks. Digital skills and literacy, and youth participation in the design of the technologies they use, are crucial.

Since her election as Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union, Mrs Doreen Bogdan-Martin launched global initiatives on school connectivity, innovation, digital transformation and youth engagement, as well as an ITU-wide Youth Strategy. This conference will provide a space for dialogue about digital technologies and youth engagement. 

Following her keynote lecture, Doreen Bogdan-Martin will be joined for a panel discussion with:
