On the occasion of World Press Freedom Day and the awarding of the 2026 International Editorial Cartoon Award, the Freedom Cartoonists Foundation and the City of Geneva, in partnership with the Geneva Graduate Institute, invite you to an exceptional event featuring Joseph Stiglitz, 2001 Nobel Prize in Economic Science, former Chief Economist of the World Bank and Professor at Columbia University.

Welcoming remarks by Marie-Laure Salles, Director of the Geneva Graduate Institute

Introductions by:

  • Patrick Chappatte, President & Marie Heuzé, Vice-President, Freedom Cartoonists Foundation
  • Marie Barbey-Chappuis, Administrative Councillor, City of Geneva

The keynote speech by Joseph Stiglitz will be followed by a discussion with Kenneth Roth, Visiting Professor at Princeton University and former Executive Director of Human Rights Watch, on the state of American democracy six months before the midterm elections.

The Freedom Cartoonists Foundation will then hand out the 2026 Ko­fi Annan Courage in Cartooning Award.

This event will be bilingual in English and French. In collaboration with the newspaper Le Temps.
