The World Bank Group (WBG) and the Centre for Finance and Development are pleased to invite you to the presentation of the WBG semi-annual flagship report Global Economic Prospects: Heightened Tensions, Subdued Investment.

Global growth has continued to weaken, momentum remains fragile, and subdued investment in emerging market developing economies (EMDEs) is dampening potential growth prospects. Reforms to boost private investment and productivity growth are needed, particularly in low-income countries (LICs), which face significant challenges today than they did in the early 2000s. With that being said, this flagship report explores global and regional prospects, as well as addresses topical issues such as the benefits and risks of government debt accumulation, recent investment weakness in EMDEs, currency depreciations to inflation, and the evolution of growth in LICs.

The report will be presented by Ayhan Kose, Director of the Global Economic Prospects Group at the World Bank Group, and Coleman Nee, from the World Trade Organization Economic Research and Statistics Division will be a discussant. The event will be moderated by Ugo Panizza, Professor of Economics and Pictet Chair in Finance and Development at the Graduate Institute of Geneva. An interactive discussion and Q&A session will follow the presentation.

Free entrance. Registration required.
