Speakers:

  • Ambassador Mzukisi Qobo - Ambassador and Permanent Representative of South Africa to the WTO.
  • Ambassador Tan Hung Seng - Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Singapore to the WTO and WIPO.

The Director-General of the World Trade Organization, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has described the world trading system as “experiencing the worst disruptions of the past 80 years.” The multilateral system is experiencing change and strain, responding to geopolitical instability, tensions from tariffs, and an increase in armed conflicts.

Despite this, there is cross-regional collaboration and a desire to leverage economic relationships for global stability, and to promote peace.

Join us for a dialogue on cross-regional collaboration, trade for peace, and intellectual property governance with Ambassador Tan Hung Seng, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Singapore to the World Trade Organisation and the World Intellectual Property Organisation in Geneva; and Ambassador Mzukisi Qobo, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Republic of South Africa to the World Trade Organization.
