INVITATION

INSIDE GENEVA PODCAST: LIVE RECORDING

What’s the Point of Foreign Aid?

  • Deike Potzel, Ambassador, Permanent Observer of the European Union to the United Nations and other International Organisations in Geneva

  • Gilles Carbonnier, Professor of International Economics, Geneva Graduate Institute and Vice-President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)

  • Chris Lockyear, Executive-in-Residence at the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP) and Former Secretary General of Médecins Sans Fronières (MSF)

  • Jaclyn Lee, Master Student in International and Development Studies

In this live podcast recording, the panel will address issues facing foreign aid. Is foreign aid failing? If so, is it is because of duplication, inefficiency and poor planning, or is down to chronic under funding? As traditional donors cut funding even further, will humanitarian crises simply be neglected? What might that mean for global stability or international diplomacy?

Questions from the floor will be welcome in the last half hour of the discussion.

Moderated by Imogen Foulkes, BBC Geneva Correspondent and host of Inside Geneva from Swissinfo.
