Description

This public event serves as a moment to pause and reflect over more than two years of negotiations within the Intergovernmental Negotiating Body to draft and negotiate a WHO convention, agreement or other international instrument on pandemic prevention, preparedness and response and the Working Group on Amendments to the International Health Regulations (2005).

The event's primary objectives are to assess the progress made, to shape political momentum as we approach the culminating stages of these crucial negotiations, and to further trust among stakeholders leading up to the May 2024 World Health Assembly.

The agenda includes a keynote address by Dr. Mike Ryan, Deputy Director General and Executive Director, Health Emergencies Programme, of the World Health Organization (WHO), followed by a high-level, multi stakeholder panel featuring senior government officials, civil society members, and independent experts.

A light lunch will be served ahead of the event from 12:00-12:30 in the atrium of Petal 2 (ground floor, Geneva Graduate Institute).
