The Ciné-Club Technologies and the Future of Our Societies opens its fourth season with Plus large que le ciel (2025), a documentary by Italian-Swiss filmmaker Valerio Jalongo exploring artificial intelligence through science, poetry and art.
The screening will be followed by a discussion with director Valerio Jalongo, who will join the audience live via videoconference.
About the film
Artificial intelligence represents many things at once: an unprecedented opportunity, a major risk, and perhaps even a grand illusion. But beyond algorithms and robots, the companies developing them, and the utopian and dystopian futures they evoke, AI confronts us with a profoundly human question.
In Plus large que le ciel, Valerio Jalongo ventures into the heart of this mystery, drawing on science, poetry and art. Could a collective approach to AI help shape a positive future for humanity? Through a journey around the world, the documentary searches for answers that might help us navigate technological change while shedding new light on what makes us human.
Valerio Jalongo, Switzerland/Italy, 2025, 82 min., original version with subtitles.
Discussion with the director
Following the screening, Valerio Jalongo will join the audience via videoconference for a discussion about the film, offering an opportunity to further explore its questions around artificial intelligence, technological development and the future of our societies.
