Join us for an interactive online meeting discussing the dynamic intersection of Youth Participation, Research, and Activism in Practice.
Hosted by the Albert Hirschman Centre on Democracy, this session is designed to connect young people interested in how practice and engagement bridges academia, and vice-versa.
Building on the diversity of experiences among the Kofi Annan Changemakers alumni and the Graduate Institute students and alumni, it will foster a discussion on how activism may inform research, and how research may empower activism.
We will delve into how lived experiences shape individual and group engagement and will also explore how graduate researchers and practitioners can collaborate on shared thematic areas. Participants will hear first hand experiences from researchers at the Albert Hirschman Centre on Democracy whose work focuses on youth activism. The themes of activism and engagement are central to the Centre’s work.
The session seeks to open up a space for mutual learning, exchanging ideas, stories, and insights on the challenges and opportunities faced by youth activists and researchers alike.
The session will be highly interactive, and depending on the number of participants, we will organize breakout rooms focused on shared topics of interest.
This meeting is reserved for the Institute’s students, alumni and research community.
Please register before March 13th.

The Kofi Annan Changemakers initiative is a programme that empowers 12–14 young leaders (aged 18–30) annually to drive global change. Over the course of the year, the Changemakers dialogue with global leaders and experts, participate in a six-month online module, and attend a week-long in-person module in Geneva. They receive guidance and support from a mentor and implement small seed grant projects to scale up their work. The Graduate Institute is happy to be a partner of this initiative.
