On 3 November 2020, the United States will elect its President to serve for the next four years. The results of the election remain unknown and may possibly remain so for several weeks after election day. However, one thing is certain, whomever will occupy the Oval office faces extraordinary challenges: economic downturn, a devastating pandemic, social and economic inequalities, and the credibility of the country internationally. What does the re-election of Trump signify for the country and the world? What changes does a Biden presidency foretell?

Join us for this panel discussion the day after the US elections with:

  • Stéphane Bussard, Journalist, Le Temps (moderator)

  • Bernard Harcourt, Isidore and Seville Sulzbacher Professor of Law and Professor of Political Science, Columbia University

  • Valerie Mims, former US government official

  • Catherine Puga, Master’s Candidate in International Affairs, the Graduate Institute, Geneva

  • David Sylvan, Professor of International Relations and Political Science, the Graduate Institute, Geneva

This online discussion is organised in partnership with Le Temps and the Club Diplomatique de Genève.
