This seminar explores how the concept of vulnerability shapes refugee resettlement, balancing humanitarian objectives with states’ interests in migration control and integration. Drawing on new findings from the international project The Future of Resettlement: Vulnerability Revisited, the discussion highlights dilemmas of categorization, prioritization, and implementation in resettlement policy and practice.

The roundtable format will combine short academic presentations with reflections from stakeholders and peers, followed by a moderated discussion. The morning will begin with coffee and informal networking from 8:30.

  • Nerina Weiss, Fafo Institute for Labour and Social Research
  • Brigitte Suter, Malmö University
