Young people around the world are mobilising in response to growing dissatisfaction with the institutions, politics and policies that shape their lives. Yet while they operate in different political contexts and face distinct national challenges, many youth-led movements share common aspirations for participation, accountability and political change.
On the sidelines of the Geneva Peace Forum, Interpeace and the MILE Project of the Geneva Graduate Institute, with the support of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, will bring together young activists from Nepal, Bangladesh, and Madagascar to discuss their experiences of organising and participating in social movements. The conversation will explore how these experiences are shaping their visions of democracy, governance and multilateral cooperation.
The panel will also examine what young people expect from international institutions and how spaces such as International Geneva can engage more meaningfully with youth-led movements. It offers an opportunity to hear directly from young activists about the political futures they seek to build and forms part of a broader initiative that will bring representatives of Gen Z movements from around the world to Geneva in March 2027.
