The panelists will examine why Latin America and the Caribbean have struggled to achieve sustained economic progress despite cycles of state-led development, market liberalization, and social policy experimentation, and will explore the structural constraints that have shaped the region’s trajectory.

 

Introduction by Ambassador José R. Sánchez-Fung, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Dominican Republic to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in Geneva, and  Adjunct Professor of Economics, Western Michigan University
