Discover the feature-length documentary Le Vivant qui se défend, directed by Vincent Verzat and produced by Partager c’est Sympa.
The film follows his journey between activism and naturalism, exploring his search for balance between struggle and contemplation. Starting from a personal and sensitive narrative, this documentary connects wild animals with the ongoing struggles taking place across France against the destruction of their habitats.
For the past 10 years, Vincent Verzat has been investigating major economic, ecological, and social issues. He films environmental mobilisations as he witnesses them, teaches himself naturalist skills, and conducts research into French forest management.
In 2015, he launched the Facebook and YouTube channel Partager c’est Sympa to respond to current events. Initially working alone, he was quickly joined by two colleagues, and the team positioned itself in support of environmental activist associations and NGOs. Through dynamic videos filmed in the heart of the action, and a central presenter guiding viewers through the mobilisations, Partager c’est Sympa amplifies the voice of the French climate movement. Gradually, the channel—structured as an association—grew and became more autonomous thanks to crowdfunding, which allowed viewers to contribute to its support. This independence enabled it to turn to more complex topics and explore them in longer formats that leave more room for investigation.
The film sits between investigative journalism based on field encounters, personal exploration, and the naturalist sense of wonder when observing wild animals. It is both a journey and a bridge between worlds that rarely meet, if at all.
