The 2nd edition of the Executive Master in Development Policies and Practices (DPP) specially designed for Afghan civil servants has been launched on 2 May 2014 in Abu Dhabi. Participants are coming mostly from the Ministry of Finance but also from the Ministry of Economics, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Office of Administrative Affairs and Council of Ministries Secretariat.
The module 1 (5 weeks, full-time) takes place in Abu Dhabi (2 – 13 May 2014) and Istanbul (1 – 17 June 2014), the module 2 (4 months, part-time) will be held at the place of work of the participant (Kabul) and the module 3 (3 weeks, full-time) will be held in Geneva in February 2015.
This year, the 2nd part of Module 1 will be held in Istanbul, organized in partnership with Kadir Has University, a new DPP partner in the region with a comprehensive expertise in the Middle-East and Central Asia regions as well in conflict-affected settings.
This DPP Programme specially tailored for the Afghan context is a join initiative between the Graduate Institute, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and the Afghan Ministry of Finance. It aims to strengthen the knowledge, skills, and capacities of Afghan ministerial officials on the themes of effective governance and sustainable development.
The DPP Programme 2014-2015 will also start in the 5 other regions in July-August in partnership with Yam Pukri in Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso), the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) in Accra (Ghana), the Centro de Estudios y Promoción del Desarrollo (desco) in Lima (Peru), the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT-VN) in Hanoi (Vietnam) and KIMEP University in Almaty (Kazakhstan).
