Five Institute students, led by Professor Annabelle Littoz-Monnet, participated in the “Allianz Summer Academy 2013: The Role of Europe in a Changing World Order”.
At the Academy, International Relations/Political Science students Antonia Hmaidi, Júlia Miklasová, Marie Pelissier-Combescure, David Schwebel Paz and Nicolas Zahn, under Professor Littoz-Monnet’s supervision, presented their research on “The EU and ‘Southern’ Powers: the Case of Agriculture in the WTO”, which they carried out over the course of the previous academic year. This edition is the third time Professor Littoz-Monnet has led a group of students at the Academy.
During the Summer Academy, transnational working groups were formed, and students, taking part in exercises similar to international and multilateral negotiations, developed common proposals for innovative European strategies. The report of the Geneva team will soon be published in a publication by the Allianz Foundation.
“The Allianz Summer Academy 2013 was a great success. Our students were actively involved and felt that the Academy was an excellent opportunity to interact, exchange views and also make friends with other students from very diverse origins and backgrounds”, said Professor Littoz-Monnet.
The Summer Academy was created by the Allianz Cultural Foundation in 2003 to strengthen European cooperation. Its members are the Graduate Institute, Princeton University, the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich, the Central European University in Budapest and the Oxford Business School.
Annabelle Littoz-Monnet is Associate Professor of International Relations/Political Science. Her current research focuses on European integration theory, public policies and governance, the politics of European memory, and the relationship between science and politics. She has recently started a new research project on the role of ethics experts in policy.
