Alumna Named General Counsel for Covergent Energy + Power

Convergent Energy + Power (Convergent), the leading independent developer of energy storage solutions in North America, announced the appointment of Lauren (Ren) Gaffney (MIA, ‘08) as General Counsel. Ren will oversee and manage all legal and compliance functions of the business, advise senior management and the board on governance and policy matters, and play a key role in the expansion of the company.

Ren Gaffney brings over 11 years of experience in the fields of project finance, structured finance, power and infrastructure development, M&A, U.S. federal regulation, securities regulation, and economic development to the company. She has advised on over USD 2.8 billion of closed transactions across four continents in the power, energy and infrastructure space.

Ren joins Convergent from the CrossBoundary Group, where she served as Deputy General Counsel and Head of West and Central Africa Power and Infrastructure Advisory. Prior, she served as Assistant General Counsel for TerraForm Power and as an Associate in the law firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP’s Energy and Infrastructure projects practice.

She is a member of the National LGBT Bar Association and was a founding Steering Committee member of Trans Legal Advocates of Washington, D.C.
