Building Bridges is a collaborative initiative among diverse stakeholders that hopes to shape the global sustainable finance agenda by leveraging the unique ecosystem of international Geneva and Switzerland. The 2025 Building Bridges conference builds on proven formats that enable collaboration to drive capital towards real-world impact, sharpen the investment case for sustainability, and strengthen collaboration across sectors.
The Geneva Graduate Institute has been part of the Building Bridges journey since the beginning due to their shared mission: to align finance with sustainable and inclusive outcomes for people and the planet. The Institute is proud to formalise this long-term collaboration by becoming an official Ecosystem Partner of Building Bridges 2025.
By partnering with Building Bridges, the Institute is affirming its mission to train leaders capable of understanding the link between finance and sustainability and thus promoting transition finance. - Marie-Laure Salles, Director of the Geneva Graduate Institute
For years, the Institute’s Centre for Finance and Development (CFD), under the leadership of Professor Nathan Sussman, has helped produce the Building Bridges event report. It is an essential tool in capturing insights and tracking progress across the sustainable finance ecosystem. The CFD team continues to support this output.
In 2025, the Hoffmann Centre for Global Sustainability is also collaborating with Building Bridges for the first time. The Centre’s inaugural conference, focused on interdisciplinary approaches to planetary sustainability, will run in complement to the Building Bridges programme. Importantly, the Centre’s grand finale on Friday 3 October, will be open to all Building Bridges participants, extending the momentum and conversation beyond the closing plenary, and highlighting the power of cross-institutional collaboration in Geneva’s unique ecosystem.
Building Bridges is also a proud Applied Research Projects (ARP) Partner Organisation as part of the Master in International and Development Studies (MINT) and joins the catalogue for the 2025-2026 academic year with a project to support future financing initiatives for International Geneva in collaboration with the Global Health Centre entitled “The Geneva Blueprint: Innovative and Blended Finance in Action."
The partnership between the Geneva Graduate Institute and Building Bridges reflects the value of combining academic rigour with financial innovation. Both institutions look forward to strengthening this collaboration and to the insights and talent it will continue to bring.
