The Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) has decided to participate as partnering agency in the next PIRE call, which will be launched in 2016. PIRE stands for “Partnerships for International Research and Education” and is a programme run by the National Science Foundation (NSF) in the United States. The NSF funds all areas of science and engineering except for areas funded by the National Health Institute (NIH). PIRE aims at promoting excellent science and building research capacities through international collaboration.
Thanks to this new partnership, Swiss teams in successful PIRE applications can be funded by the SNSF. Preliminary proposals have to be submitted to the NSF for evaluation. The deadline is set on 14 September 2016.
