A Collaborative Research between CCDP and GMC on Development Issues

SDC asked the Graduate Institute to study policy coherence on development in Switzerland.

The Graduate Institute, along with two academic partners, has received a mandate from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) to examine policy coherence for development in Switzerland. The project brings together the Centre for Development and Environment (Bern), the ETH/NADEL (Zurich), the Graduate Institute’s Centre on Conflict, Development and Peacebuilding (CCDP) and Global Migration Centre (GMC) to study mechanisms for monitoring policy coherence for development with respect to food security, illicit financial flows, and migration.

Professor Gilles Carbonnier will lead CCDP’s contribution on illicit financial flows, while research on migration will be led by Professor Vincent Chetail and Dr Géraldine Ruiz of the GMC. The project, which runs through fall 2016, contributes to a broader Swiss agenda on policy coherence for development and will result in suggestions for tracking coherence in each of the three areas.
