Defending democracy in the age of disinformation

DE.CO.DE invites young people aged 18 to 25 to work with researchers and journalists to analyse disinformation, explore digital tools, and co-create resources for their peers.

Are you 18–25 years old and curious about how information, media, and democracy shape everyday life?

DE.CO.DE is a youth-focused research and co-creation project led by the Albert Hirschman Centre on Democracy. It brings together young people from the Lake Geneva region to explore how information circulates, how it can be distorted, and how digital tools influence public debate and democratic participation.

While the project is open to students from the Institute, it aims to gather a broader community. Please circulate this call widely. Whether you are working, studying, or exploring your next steps, your perspective matters!

Participants will:

• Take part in interactive workshops with researchers and journalists on disinformation, deepfakes, and how to respond to them
• Co create multimedia content
• Develop analytical and creative skills
• Contribute to resources designed for other young people

Participants who attend at least three of the five workshops will receive a certificate recognising their engagement in the project. The workshops will be led by alumni and journalist Joseph Roche.

Participation is free but subject to application. Places are limited, and we aim to create a diverse group of participants. We will contact applicants shortly to confirm whether their application has been successful.

Apply here before 27 February.
