Expert Interviews on "Enabling the Youth for Just Transitions"

Expert Interviews from a workshop co-organised by UNRISD and AHCD exploring the implications of the just transition for young people worldwide.

On 9 March, the Albert Hirschman Centre on Democracy and UNRISD co-organized a workshop exploring the implications of the just transition for young people. The workshop touched on aspects relating to labour, participation, and innovation, in a dialogue between academics and policymakers, including several representatives of the International Labour Organization.

Laura Bullon-Cassis interviewed Agata Meysner, President of Generation Climate Europe as a part of the workshop "enabling youth for just transition".

This hybrid workshop aimed at taking a macro perspective on what just transitions mean for young people in different contexts, how labour and climate justice youth movements intersect, and what it means to enable the youth for just transitions, shedding light on the importance of the often-ignored youth perspective in just transition discourses and policymaking. Participants from international organizations, academia, and youth organizations will reflect on their own experiences and expertise on the topic, contributing to understanding how present and future transformations can effectively bring young people on board, addressing their needs and expectations.

Maria Mexi interviews Katja Hujo, Senior Research Coordinator at UNRISD as a part of the workshop "enabling youth for just transition".

This policy workshop, co-organized by the Albert Hirschman Centre on Democracy and UNRISD, took place in the context of the AHCD project Protest and Engagement, from the Global to the Local: Mapping the Forms of Youth Participation In Europe.
