Fernand Braudel Senior Fellowships given to Professor Andonova

The Graduate Institute is proud to announce that Liliana Andonova, Professor of International Relations/Political Science and Co-Director of the Center for International Environmental Studies, has received the prestigious Fernand Braudel Senior Fellowship 2015–2016. This high distinction provides a framework for established academics with an international reputation to pursue their research at the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence.

The Fernand Braudel Senior Fellowship encourages contact among researchers sharing academic interests and association with one of the research projects being carried out at the EUI. The concrete interest of Professor Andonova while at the EUI will be to develop interdisciplinary work on the topic of “Democratising International Law? Non-State Actor Access, Accountability and Implementation of International Rules”. She will be affiliated with the EUI Department of Political and Social Sciences and will work closely with researchers at the EUI and the Graduate Institute on issues linked to democratic theory, accountability and non-state actors as they are related to international compliance.

Before joining the Institute faculty in 2008, Liliana Andonova had already been a Jean Monnet Fellow at the EUI in 2007–2008. Her current research focuses on institutional change and public-private partnerships, European integration, transnational governance, and climate cooperation. She has written numerous articles and recently coauthored Transnational Climate Change Governance (Cambridge University Press, 2014).

Professor Andonova plans to stay in Florence from January to mid-February and from June to July 2016.
