Executive Education’s customized programmes team organised a 2nd annual two-day training in collaboration with the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.  Originally sponsored by the Canadian and Dutch Permanent Missions to the UN and other International Organisations in Geneva, the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie joined as sponsors in this year’s training.  Delivered in French, the seminar explored such topics as the international legal framework for the promotion and protection of women's human rights and gender equality to the process of integrating a gender perspective into the work of the Council of Human Rights.  Practical sessions included mechanisms of implementation of women's rights sessions, a case study on violence against women and roundtable on ensuring effective implementation of women's human rights.  Over forty participants representing 30 missions from all corners of the world, with strong representation from the global South.  In high demand, the programme has noted the need to continue this tradition with a third-annual programme anticipated in 2014.
