Honored with International Awards

Two alumni from the Executive Master on Development Policies and Practices (DPP Programme, formerly known as IMAS) were honored with international awards.

Mr. Gian Tu Trung, participant of the DPP Programme 2010-2011 was named Young Global Leader by World Economic Forum, and Ms. Sotheary Ly (DPP Programme 2012-2013) was granted the Advance global Australian 2013 award.

Mr. Trung is a well-known and remarkable education leader in Vietnam. He was the founder and chairman of PACE (Institute of Management), a leading business education school based in Vietnam. In addition, in 2011, Mr. Trung founded the Institute for Research on Educational Development (IRED), the first independent and non-profit institution on education research and capacity building for Vietnamese educators. Under his leadership, more than five non-profit education projects have been implemented, such as GoodBooks, OneBook, Institute for Potential Leaders (IPL), and Life Management Program (LMP). He is also one of Vietnam’s best-known and highly-regarded education columnists.

Ms. Ly is very well placed to be a next generation leader in Cambodia. She is a very rare example of a woman in a leadership role in Cambodia. She is the Executive Director of Healthcare Center for Children (HCC), an organisation dedicated to prevention and protection of children and women from human trafficking, sexual abuse and child labour. Ms. Ly is also a Board or Executive Member of different networks/coalitions and organisations in Cambodia such as the Cambodia-Thailand Anti-Human Trafficking Network (CAHT), NGO Coalition for the Rights of the Child (NGOCRC), Civil Society Network Against Child Labour (CSNACL) or Building Community Voice (BCV).
