The Graduate Institute is set to host the closing day of Switzerland’s first history festival next weekend.
Organised by the University of Geneva’s Maison de l’histoire, in collaboration with the Institute and HES-SO Geneva, the Histoire et Cité festival from 13-16 May will feature hundreds of events and activities all over Geneva – from lectures, debates and films to exhibitions, book fairs and concerts.
The festival theme is Construire la paix, with events on peace from ancient times through to today.
The last day of the festival, Saturday 16 May, will be hosted by the Institute at the Maison de la paix. Primarily in English, the day will include guided tours of the Maison de la paix, an English-language history book fair, a film screening and three debates.
The closing event, with renowned historian Margaret MacMillan from Oxford University, will look at the causes of the First World War. Roundtables on peace in the Middle East, and UN visions of peace, will precede the final lecture.
So if you are in Geneva over the Ascension weekend, come to one or more of the events on Saturday 16 May at the Maison de la paix. We would love to see you here!
