As part of its worldwide recruitment activities, the Graduate Institute has just wrapped up its 2012 promotional campaign during which its representatives travelled to 16 countries (Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, USA, Belgium, UK, Germany, Switzerland, Hungary, France, India, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines and Japan). In an effort to increase its international visibility and reinforce existing academic ties, the Graduate Institute visited 51 universities, colleges, foundations and partners, participated in 28 student fairs (16 in the USA, 2 in Latin America, 5 in Europe and 5 in Switzerland), conducted 31 on-site presentations for prospective students (3 in Brazil, 5 in Argentina, 1 in Thailand, 2 in Indonesia, 1 in Singapore, 7 in Japan, 7 in India, 1 in the Philippines and 4 in Mexico), attended 3 alumni events and received 15 groups of students on campus.

In addition, on November 21 the Graduate Institute organised its first Open Day, where it welcomed close to 100 prospective students on campus and offered them the opportunity to learn more about the Institute’s study programmes, faculty, students and infrastructure. On this occasion, Professor Jean-Louis Arcand delivered a very engaging sample lecture on the “Challenges of International Development” addressing the structural factors behind poverty and economic growth.

The Graduate Institute would like to thank all those who actively contributed to its outreach campaign, including its Washington DC, New York, San Francisco and Tokyo alumni chapters, individual alumni in specific countries, students, faculty and former Global South scholars.

Applications for prospective students are open until January 15th.
