Jean-Pierre Laviec: A Look at an International Life

Alumnus Jean-Pierre Laviec (PhD ’84)  has written a book —  Itinéraires insolites — based on his international career, which has taken him across several continents, from Latin America to Central Europe.

Itinéraires insolites takes a look behind the scenes at non-governmental and intergovernmental organisations through real-life events and figures who have truly shaped history.

From Brittany to Geneva, via Chile under Allende and a teaching post at the Geneva Graduate Institute, Itinéraires insolites follows Jean-Pierre Laviec around the world as he details the work of the International Labour Organisation (ILO), a specialised agency of the United Nations where he held senior management positions in Geneva and Budapest.

Itinéraires insolites is neither a work of fiction nor a scientific study but offers a unique insight into certain global issues, humanitarian concerns and international financial relations.
